Dear Jr. High Youth Group Parent(s),

The start of a new Jr. High Youth Group year is here! Yet another exciting year is planned. The purpose of this letter is to touch base with all the parents of children who are eligible to participate in this group before our year starts on September 13th .

The format for the group will remain the same: “fun” events, field trips, service projects, and discussion nights – with the goal being at least one of each monthly. However, the first month will be heavier on the fun, as a means of getting the group to bond cohesively. In addition, my hope is to continue fostering the kids' relationships to God and the church as a whole.

Meetings will continue to take place on Sunday evenings, 5:30-7:00 p.m. in Pingree Hall or another location in the church. Some field trips or outside service projects may be on different days of the week. Ample notice will be provided via the church Beacon and e-mail.

My requests to the parents, in an effort to make this another successful year for the kids, are:

•  complete the two enclosed forms and have your child bring them to the first meeting.

•  continue to volunteer. Once again, I will need an adult chaperone for each meeting to meet our church's child safety requirements.

•  RSVP for events by the requested deadlines. Many events will require reservations in advance and the need for transportation, and I don't want children left out of activities unnecessarily just because they didn't RSVP.

•  encourage your child to bring a friend. We want our group to grow! But note, a friend must attend a regular meeting at the church before they can accompany us on an outside field trip. In addition, a friend must attend at least eight meetings before they will be allowed to go on the overnight retreat in the spring.

That covers most everything. Feel free to contact me at any time with comments, concerns, questions or ideas. You'll find my contact information below. Finally, if there is something particular you feel I should know in advance about your child – i.e. physical condition, chronic illness, social or behavior issues, etc. – be sure to inform me. This information will help facilitate a successful year with the group.

A tentative schedule of meetings is to the left. Please let me know where you can help chaperone.
